New West Stages DOE Event Showcasing Advanced Car and Truck Technology		NWT Proposes Distributed Generation for a New Hopi Community The Hopi Village of Lower Moencopi has for several years sought to develop a new community to accommodate a growing population. Located in a remote and arid region of northwestern Arizona, the Village faced challenges with respect to bringing water and power to the chosen new community site. NWT worked with the Village to develop a phased infrastructure option featuring photovoltaic power for residential use and to run common infrastructure. This will allow the new community to go off the grid, and to avoid costly electric connection fees. The work was completed under a contract with HUD’s Office of Native American Programs (ONAP). New West recently organized and staged a Ride n Drive event showcasing advanced car and truck technology for the Department of Energy's 21st Century Truck Partnership. The event, held at Washington, DC's RFK stadium, provided legislators and decisionmakers a first hand look at some of the most energy efficient and advanced automotive technologies; many of which had been supported by funding from DOE.
